Tropical timber for
Shipbuilding
These products should be considered in a special manner as they combine uses whose requirements in terms of timber quality can differ substantially. However, these uses are grouped together because they correspond to a single market associated with a single final product.
The choice of timber species for shipbuilding therefore depends mainly on how they will be used:
- Boat decks and planking
- Boat and yacht layouts
- Pleasure-boating pontoons
Some timber species will need to have a very high level of natural durability, others will need to have specific mechanical or decorative characteristics.
